Lifting of the forehead and eyebrows is often necessary
to take weight off the eyelids and to improve the
appearance of the upper face. There are several
methods, which have been employed over the years,
the latest of which is the endoscopic approach.
In this method, a small camera on the end of
a long instrument (an endoscope) is inserted
underneath the skin and tissues to perform
the surgery. In doing so, the incisions necessary
for the surgery can be very small. Also, this
allows Dr. Sanderson to make the incisions
in less visible places, further enhancing the
postoperative result!
In endoscopic forehead surgery, the small incisions
are placed above the hairline, in the scalp.
There are usually six incisions, which are
hidden in the hair. Through these, the tissues
of the forehead and eyebrows are freed and
elevated to a more natural level, restoring
the youthful position. To maintain this new
position, two very tiny anchors are placed.
These titanium anchors are permanent, and will
support the tissues for many years.
