Resizing
pictures with IrfanView
(Part 2) To
return to Part 1, click
HERE
Step
6 - Resize Settings
Click on Advanced Options. The box to the right pops up. In
Resize, Set New Size, type in 100. Leave the height
empty. Make SURE the Preserve
Aspect Ratio box is checked. That is crucial!
Click OK. You'll be back to the previous box.
Click the Start button to begin the processing of the pictures.
The pictures are now being resized to 100 pixels (dots)
wide. The height is automatically reduced to the size needed
to retain the (height to width) aspect ratio of the original
pictures.
Note: Without selecting "Preserve Aspect Ratio",
the pictures would be "squashed and stretched" and
quality greatly reduced.
Now repeat steps 3 through 6 for the Big folder. This
time though, for "Set New Size" (in Step 6), use 400
instead of 100.
Congratulations! You should now have two new folders, Small
and Big containing smaller size pictures. They are
ready to go up on the web!
